Microsoft announced that as of October 22, 2010, OEM manufacturers are no longer allowed to provide Windows XP Home on their new netbook market.
However, Microsoft says, the move will not affect the majority of its customers. The reason PC manufacturers have started to actively sell products with Windows 7 in it.
"According to the NPD research firm, as of April 2010, as many as 81 percent of netbooks that were sold in the United States is already equipped with Windows 7," said Brandon LeBlanc, Windows Communications Manager, as quoted from his official blog, June 17, 2010.
LeBlanc also reminded, you are still using Windows XP, especially Windows XP Service Pack 2, on July 13, 2010 Microsoft will no longer support it. If you want to keep using Windows XP, Microsoft recommends that you upgrade to SP3.
Microsoft itself will continue the Windows XP Service Pack 3 until next April 2014. After that, users are advised to consider switching to Windows 7 so that they continue to run the operating system
